Values

Someone was selling an iPad on a mailing list here and was asking for 100 USD more than US retail price. I was responding, that the price might be too high and if you want save money wait until the iPad is shipped end of May to Singapore and Bangkok. I also pointed out that Apple Care includes the risk once the repaired iPad is shipped back that VN customs want to get an extra share. The seller wrote me an email calling me an asshole.
Greed in this country is just incredible. When I was young I learned that you shall not be greedy. I guess, this is only valid in western countries.

I think you'll find that there's plenty of greed in the west too.

Hi, I think you have a bad impression about Vietnamese.
Don't try to hit a country by viewing someone.

Ship, I do not have a bad impression. Actually it is the opposite. But I discovered that in Vietnam more than in any other country I know money plays just a important role in neary EVERYTHING. When I was in Bac Lieu, I discovered three pagodas, 2 Khmer, one a quite usual pagoda. My VN staff insisted to go to the usual one, because everyone goes there praying for money. and this was not the only incident.
Of course everyone needs money to survive, but I personally think there are more values. And I do miss them.
And it is not so much a complain but more an open question why it is so.
@ourman: That doesnt change my point? It was about values, not just greed.

Personally, I don't think it is appropriate to post on someone else's ad advising against the purchase. It's like standing next to a small shop selling something at what they believe is fair and telling customers it's not, one by one. Or writing on a for sale sign "too expensive, don't buy this."

Let consumers decide for themselves. If they don't think it's fair, then they wont buy it.

Timen, I think a neighbours mailing list post is not a business ad. The list was actually MADE for getting advice and giving advice. and you have to understand that times are changing: Consumers do have a voice now and they do recommend products and services or warn about. You better be prepared of your customers voice instead to tell them to shut up :-)
